To measure how much paint you need for your home painting project, follow these steps:

  1. Measure the Area: Measure the height and width of each wall you want to paint. Multiply these measurements to get the square meter measurement. Subtract the square meter measurements of windows and doors from the total to get the paintable area.

  • For example, if a feature wall is 2.5m x 3m, the total is 7.5 sq/m. If there's a window of 1m x 1m (1 sq/m) and a door of 1m x 2m (2 sq/m), subtracting these gives a total of 4.5 sq/m

  • .

  • Consider Coats: It's recommended to use 2 coats for the best results. Multiply the square meter measurement by the number of coats to determine the total paint coverage.

  • For instance, if the total square meter measurement is 4.5 sq/m, multiplying by 2 gives a total paint coverage of 9 sq/m

  • .

  • Calculate Paint Quantity: Find the coverage information of your chosen paint. Divide the total paint coverage by the square meter per liter of the paint finish to determine the amount of paint needed.

  • For example, if a paint has a coverage of up to 14 sq/m per liter, dividing 9 sq/m by 14 sq/m gives a total of 0.6 liters
